This graduate degree program educates students with a baccalaureate degree to become anesthesiologist assistants (AAs) eligible to sit for the Certification Exam offered by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA).

The MSA Program is a nationally accredited 27-month (7 semester) program which integrates didactic with clinical instruction.   Although the first year is considered the “basic science year”, gaining clinical experience during this time is an integral component of the program. This aspect is based on the belief that students learn best by experience.

Classroom instruction includes advanced coursework in applied anatomy and physiology, physics, pharmacology and anesthetic sciences.  Simulation labs are incorporated early to emphasize patient instrumentation and monitoring.

The remaining semesters in the second year focus primarily on gaining clinical experience within an operating room of an affiliated hospital.  During this time, one-on-one supervision by an Anesthesiologist or a licensed Anesthesiologist Assistant is provided to ensure didactic and simulated clinical experiences are synergized into real life patient care practicum experiences.
