Departmental Overview

  • Provide orientation programs and meet with students individually as they develop Curricula Vitae and Personal Statements; advise on residency selection and interviewing process.
  • Prepare Dean's Letters of Evaluation and process accompanying material for the matching program, including processing letters, transcripts, board scores, etc.
  • Monitor the Electronic Residency Application Service, including processing applications, letters of reference, transcripts, photos, etc. (Specialties currently include: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology, General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics, Physical Medicine (&) Rehabilitation, Transitional year programs, combined Internal Medicine/Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine/Family Medicine, Internal Medicine/Pediatrics, Internal Medicine/Physical Medicine (&) Rehabilitation, and all Army GME-1 positions.
  • Process and monitor licensure applications and medical staff membership requests for graduates, and extramural elective applications for current students.
  • Register students for Steps 1 and 2 of the United States Medical Licensing Exam. Enroll students in the National Resident Matching Program. Facilitate Graduation Week events and activities.
  • Serve as liaison with the campus Financial Aid Office and process authorizations and applications for internal and external scholarships and loans.
  • Serve as liaison with staff in the Student Health Service to assure student compliance with requirements regarding immunizations, TB testing, OSHA regulations, etc.
  • Assist student organizations with special events; e.g., FAPAN, Snowball, Blood Drives, etc., Duties include advertising events, publications, photos, collecting money, etc. Conduct elections for Class Officers for Years 1 - 6.
