B.A./M.D. Program: Applying for Admission
Applicants for admission to the UMKC School of Medicine B.A./M.D. program must submit all applications and application materials by November 1.
An application will NOT be reviewed for admission until all supporting documents have been received. When all applications and application materials have been received, the Council on Selection in the School of Medicine will review all complete applications. Application materials received or postmarked after November 1 will be considered late and those applications will be reviewed with other late appliccations and only if space is available. Applications that remain incomplete will not be considered.
Students reapplying for admission must submit all new applications and supporting documents.
Students applying for admission to the UMKC School of Medicine B.A./M.D. program must complete the following steps:
STEP 1: UMKC GENERAL APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION (Available after August 1)
All applicants must complete the UMKC General Application for Admission. Please follow the instructions provided on the application. When selecting a major, select
"MED-UNDEC Medicine MD-Six Year Program."
In order to complete the general application, your computer must support the following:

STEP 2: SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS AND TEST SCORES
All applicants are required to submit official high school transcripts and official standardized test scores to the UMKC Office of Admissions:

ACT or SAT scores may also be submitted electronically by identifying UMKC as a score recipient with ACT or SAT. (UMKC ACT code is 2380. UMKC SAT code is 6872.) ACT or SAT scores are considered official when submitted on an official high school transcript or directly from ACT or SAT.
STEP 3: SCHOOL OF MEDICINE SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION
Complete the UMKC School of Medicine Supplemental Application, including the Technical Standards, E-Consent and Statement of Student Responsibility.
The online Supplemental Application is a timed session. Although you should have sufficient time to complete the application, it is recommended that you download the PDF form, prepare your information and the complete the online Supplemental Application.
STEP 4: ESSAY, ACTIVITIES AND HEALTH EXPERIENCES
Download the UMKC School of Medicine Essay, Activities and Health Experience PDF. Complete each section within the space allocated. Answers must be confined to the space allocated.
Please Note: Rename the UMKC School of Medicine Essay, Activities and Health Experience PDF using the following convention:
Last name, First three letters of your first name, birthdate
(For example: Jane Johnson, May 20, 1994 = JohnsonJan05201994)
The PDF is editable and should be completed using Adobe Acrobat Reader Only. Please do not use any other reader application. Please do not submit handwritten materials.

STEP 5b: REFERENCE FORMS
Reference forms should be submitted directly to the School of Medicine by teachers, counselor, school administrators or others who can speak to your academic ability and personal character. Please direct those providing the reference to the UMKC School of Medicine Reference Form. Those providing the reference must submit a fully complete official School of Medicine Reference Form. Letters of recommendation will not be accepted in place of or in addition to the official Reference Form.
A minimum of three fully complete reference forms are required for a complete application. A maximum of six fully complete reference forms will be accepted. References are considered confidential material at the UMKC School of Medicine.
Instructions for the person providing the reference:
Download the official UMKC School of Medicine Reference Form. This reference form must be fully completed in order to be considered in the admissions process. Please do not submit letters of recommendation, as letters of recommendation will not be accepted in place of, or in addition to, the official School of Medicine Reference Form.
The deadline for submitting or postmarking the School of Medicine Reference Form is
November 1, 2012. Reference forms submitted or postmarked after November 1, 2012 will be considered late. Applications that become complete late will be considered with other applications completed after the deadline and only if space is available. There are no exceptions to this deadline.

STEP 6: CHECK THE STATUS OF YOUR APPLICATION
You may continue to check the status of your application to determine which application materials must still be submitted. You may only check the status of your application once your General Application for Admission to UMKC has been processed.
Once your general application has been processed, you may check the status of your application at www.pathway.umkc.edu. You will use your SSO log-in ID (this ID is not your social security number) as assigned to you by the UMKC Office of Admissions. The School of Medicine Office of Admissions will enter received materials into the checklist as soon as possible, but processing times may vary depending on the time of year.

November 1 is the final deadline to submit or postmark all application materials, including the general application for admission to UMKC, the School of Medicine supplemental application, the PDF including essay, activities and health experiences, reference forms, official transcripts and official test scores. If any of these materials are submitted or postmarked after the November 1 deadline, the application will be considered late and reviewed with other late applications and only on a space available basis. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
