“Professors are available outside of class to help
ensure your success in their course, helping you to identify and solve the problems you are having.”

- Dennis Barnett, Year 3

• Intensified basic medical science classes prepare students for
increased clinical responsibilities.

• One-half day a week throughout Years 3-6, students help diagnose and treat patients in outpatient clinics at one of our five partner hospitals. This clinical assignment provides a continuity of patient care, as well as a wealth of clinical experience.

• Year 3 students are paired with a Year 5 senior partner who serves as another mentor, allowing advanced students to take additional responsibility.

• Students join a group of 10 to 12 fellow medical students, called a docent unit, on the Hospital Hill campus.

• Students return to the Volker
campus at least twice, usually in Years 3 and 4, for liberal arts
coursework.

"As a younger student, it really helps having a mentor there to answer questions and share
her experiences with me. I have learned a lot
by seeing patients with her."
