Our Mission
The mission of the UMKC Master of Science in Anesthesia (MSA) Program is to educate skilled, patient-centered anesthesiologist assistants to work within the Anesthesia Care Team. We recognize the relationship between the need for quality anesthesia care providers and the current workforce shortage. Our mission is to bridge that gap by implementing rigorous educational standards within the framework of the highest moral and ethical responsibility to the patients that we serve.
A Message from the Dean
The School of Medicine nationally accredited MSA program graduates anesthesiologist assistants (AAs), highly educated medical professionals licensed to work under the supervision of anesthesiologists, to provide various anesthesia services in hospitals, surgery centers, and other health-care environments.
Anesthesia services are in short supply. As a public medical school, we are pleased to offer a new education program that meets such an urgent community need for health care services.
Betty M. Drees, M.D.
Dean, UMKC School of Medicine
