Welcome to the UMKC Department of Cardiology Fellowship Program.
We are pleased that you are visiting our website. The Cardiovascular Fellowship Program prepares physicians for a career in cardiology through clinical, academic and research activity. The program is based at the Mid America Heart Institute at Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City, which has been recognized as one of the nation's premier heart centers for more than 25 years.
Each year, we accept three fellows into the cardiovascular disease fellowship training program. The three-year fellowship allows physicians to learn a variety of non-invasive and invasive techniques. Because the Mid America Heart Institute performs more heart procedures than any other in the region, fellows have an opportunity to gain a wide array of clinical experience.
For fellows wishing to continue their education after the 3-year program, we offer one-year training programs in clinical cardiovascular electrophysiology and interventional cardiology. These programs provide an opportunity for physicians wishing to gain additional experience in techniques of PTCA and electrophysiologic studies. Additional 1-year training programs in outcomes research, echocardiography, preventive cardiology, interventional research and nuclear cardiology are also available.
The following page contains more information about our fellowship. For more detailed information about the curriculum and application, please follow the link to our residency website. Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to hearing from you.
